Bodrum to Patmos aboard Beetfish – 2024 · 2024-09-02

From Bodrum to Kos

We were at customs by 9.30 a.m. Süleyman completed the formalities quickly and we headed for Kos, resolving never again to forget our Greek residence permits. The weather was glorious and the sea glittered; Beetfish covered the ten nautical miles between Bodrum and Kos in an hour.

We ate breakfast in Kos, drank cold beer in Platia Platanou and cooled off in the sea beside the harbour. The Plane Tree of Hippocrates was smaller than we had imagined. Unable to find a taxi to Zia, we tried Nick the Fisherman, only to discover that it closes on Mondays, and ended up enjoying an excellent dinner at Barbuni. We also had our first minor collision when a German-flagged sailing boat tried to enter the harbour.
