We rose at 6 a.m. At first light we left Şule and Soner on Patmos and set out. This was Beetfish’s first major test with us.
We headed north into the waves. Seas arriving from both sides battered the boat, while gusts reached 28–29 knots. Wind and water were equally fierce. It felt like a cradle to me and I slept; everyone else watched the passage intently.
At last Çeşme appeared. After eight days among the islands, we were going home.
