We walked through Parikia and ate a breakfast rich in pastries. With its small shops, clean streets and cafés, the town was preparing for the day. Marble fragments from the Temple of Athena could be seen in the walls of houses. The Frankish tower, built in the thirteenth century from stones taken from the temple, made us reflect on how powerfully each age tries to erase the culture and beliefs that came before it.
At 2 p.m. we left Beetfish for Paros Airport; our journey continued through Athens and then Thessaloniki. Beetfish remained around Paros, waiting for suitable weather before returning to Bodrum.
