Gyali, Kos and Pserimos

At 9.00 am we were off Gyali, opposite Nisyros. Pumice is still quarried from the volcanic island’s striking white slopes.

At 9.00 am we were off Gyali, opposite Nisyros. Pumice is still quarried from the volcanic island’s striking white slopes.

After swimming and breakfast we headed towards Kos. Berfin worked while Derin tested a game. Berfin and I shared the journey’s hardest and most emotional moment: confronting, sharing, understanding and finally embracing. We made our own kintsugi. I am proud of my daughters.

Once a generator fault off Kos Castle had been repaired, we continued. At 4.00 pm we stopped at Pserimos, swam in its clear sandy water and walked ashore to gather thyme and sage.

The four of us went fishing in the tender. Derin held the record and continued catching fish from Beetfish as well. Captain İbrahim’s grill and Alperen’s table completed the evening. During the night, the wind gave us a thorough battering.
