From Sedir Island to Akbük

“The early bird gets the worm,” we said, and we went to Sedir Island in the morning. The sea was calm.

“The early bird gets the worm,” we said, and we went to Sedir Island in the morning. The sea was calm.

Sedir Island was the summer residence of the Carian kings. It is very impressive with its 2,500-seat theater, agora and Temple of Apollo. We wandered around the island with our museum cards.

The special sands on the northern coast of the island are under protection. It is said that these sands, formed by geological processes, are found only here and in Crete. According to a belief, it was brought from Egypt for Cleopatra.

Towards noon, we were surrounded by tour boats. We swam in the same bay with hundreds of people, played rummy and caught dozens of puffer fish. We set off at 16.00; but the weather turned unexpectedly bad.

After struggling with the waves for an hour, we took shelter in Akbük Bay. Adrenaline was at its peak as we tried to catch those falling inside the boat and avoid getting wet from the waves. Derin, Volkan and Figen resisted heroically upstairs; Berfin, Gökhan and Alper fought downstairs. Selen took my mother to a safe area.

In the evening we had the Americano tournament and our last meal on the boat. The moon was bright as a tray. Then we went to Çökertme; our moonlight tour continued with great joy and we were at anchor by 00:30. This time the road really tired us.

We woke up at 07.00 in the morning and left the boat at 08.00. Berfin remains at sea for another week. Our holiday is over for now. My mother, Selen and Figen set off after us and arrived in Çeşme at noon.
