We arrived at Bozukkale, the site of ancient Loryma. We learned that the bay had once been called Oplosiko Bükü and that “Hoploteke” referred to a shipyard. At Sailors Cafe we had breakfast prepared by the family who runs the place.
Oğlanboğuldu was a beautiful bay with cold water and a sandy seabed. Once again, however, the fish refused to cooperate. We continued past Değirmen Island and the islands of Suluca and Taşlıca before reaching Bozburun. In the evening we went to Sabrina’s Haus for drinks. The day combined ancient history, quiet coves and the easy sociability of Bozburun—the kind of varied day that makes a boat journey feel much longer and richer than the distance travelled.
