Lima is a city by the sea, with traces of settlement dating back ten thousand years. Since it is very close to the equator, the weather is hot but foggy even though we come in winter. Good thing it's foggy; because the sun here is very burning.
Garúa means a thin, continuous, gray fog and drizzle that is unique to Lima. It's not quite like rain, but it makes the air constantly damp, grey, hazy and overcast. It's as if the sky had fallen and the city was under a thin veil.
It is seen especially in winter months in Lima. The interesting thing is that Lima has an almost desert climate, it receives very little rain; but due to the cold Humboldt Current coming from the Pacific, the air is humid and the city seems to be covered with a layer of gray fog.
We are in the Miraflores area of the city; in the coastal region that bears traces of settlement for thousands of years. We are close to Barranco. Transportation to the city is provided by the main road by the sea, like our Black Sea cities. However, here the sea is actively used by the townspeople. Those who surf, swim, fish, watch the sea...
The architecture is full of low buildings sandwiched between apartment buildings. Of course, as you move towards the periphery, the number of slums increases. Due to the difference in income distribution, the buildings are again surrounded by electric wires and there are doormen in the buildings. This time we rented an Airbnb. A very beautiful, spacious penthouse.
On the first day, we walked to Bruto restaurant with the suggestion of our host. A city like Istanbul with heavy traffic after work; Drivers are also horn enthusiasts like us. Oh, the food is amazing. You can't do it without eating ceviche. As you know, we are on the seaside. The streets are alive; we even remembered Cyprus when we saw the casinos on the corner. Should we play for a hundred dollars?
Anyway, the walk felt good. After Amazon, we went to the city we were used to and even did some shopping at home. It is customary for us to do grocery shopping in every country.
